The WBCP team who did the AWC at Bani, Pangasinan was composed of Juan Mesquida, Alex Tiongco, Tere Cervero, Adrian Constantino and Trinket Constantino. We were hosted by Mayor Cel Navarro (who unfortunately was in Metro Manila at the time and could not meet up with us) and assisted by DENR representative William Raboy and MAO Bing Gloria. It was the second year in a row that WBCP participated in the Bani AWC. This year we surveyed 3 sites: the Bangrin Mangrove Sanctuary and Apurao fishponds which were adjacent to each other, and a 3-year old dam in Brgy Calabeng which hosted several ducks.
Highlights include 19 Black-tailed Godwits and 2 Gadwalls. Total waterbird count for all three sites was 10,225.
On non-waterbird matters: we still sighted 19 osprey at the mangrove/fishponds area and enjoyed watching them dive for bangus.
