“Sunbirds are so small that they are more [often] heard than seen. Upon hearing that high pitched one-note call, you can easily find them [usually] where the flowers are. The Purple-throated Sunbird is a joy to see because of its contrasting black and red plumage. But then, sometimes you get lucky and see it at a certain angle from the light and…like magic…other colors will appear.” – Chris 

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER: Chris Baterina is a farmer and an ardent advocate for the environment. He is also a member of the Provincial Board of Ilocos Sur. He promotes birding as a way of encouraging people to help conserve, protect, and rehabilitate the environment.
