DUNLIN Calidris alpina
Manila Bay, Bulacan
First spotted on 18 February 2017 by Mark Villa, Arne Jensen, and Tinggay Cinco, this sighting of the Dunlin is the fourth record of the species in the Philippines. Days after the initial sighting, as many as 9 Dunlins were spotted in the same area in Manila Bay. There are still large numbers of waterbirds that can be found in Manila Bay and rare sightings such as this of the Dunlin further emphasize the importance of preserving the habitat, especially since there are threats to its conservation such as reclamation.
