May-June 2018 Roundup of Activities

Here is a rundown of the activities the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines (WBCP) had the past two months:

May 4, 2018 – 12th Philippine Bird Festival Press Conference
The WBCP conducted an official press conference for the 12th Philippine Bird Festival organized by the Department of Tourism. This was held in City Garden Hotel in Makati City and featured the 12th PBF and Treasures of SOX.

May 6, 2018 – Club Trip to Marilaque Highway
In celebration of eBird’s Global Big Day, a club trip to the Marilaque Highway leading to Infanta, Quezon was organized for club members.

May 9-13, 2018 – 12th Philippine Bird Festival Activities
The festivities for the 12th Philippine Bird Festival began on May 9 with the Welcome Dinner hosted by the Department of Tourism in the Berjaya Hotel in Manila.

Upon arrival in Mindanao, the delegates were treated to a Welcome Lunch hosted by Tantangan Mayor Benjamin V. Figueroa at the FB Hotel.

Another Welcome Dinner was hosted by the Governor of the Province of South Cotabato held at The Farm in Carpenter Hill, complete with a cultural performance for the whole evening.

May 19, 2018 – Guided Trip in UP Diliman (for UP Mountaineers AkyatCon)
A guided birdwatching trip in the UP Diliman campus was conducted by WBCP volunteers for the UP Mountaineers during their event, AkyatCon.

June 18-20, 2018 – Katala Festivals
This year, the 15th Kalabukay (local name of Katala) Festival in Dumaran in northern Palawan and the 12 Katala Festival in Narra, Palawan were celebrated.

June 29-30, 2018 – Club Trip to Caylabne
A club trip to Caylabne was organized for club members to end the month of June.
