Let’s use sound to transport us to a birding site. This is a long recording you can use for meditation, to escape dull office work, or maybe if you want to practice identifying bird calls.
Note: best to listen to this using headphones 😀
In the cool January morning air, dozens of birds flock to eat the delicate pale pink fruits hanging from a Ficus caulocarpa tree. This particular tree is nestled in the middle of a residential area and you can still hear the deep hum of a nearby highway, dogs barking, and construction happening down the road. Despite all this man-made noise, the birds mind their own business squabbling over the seemingly endless buffet of fresh fig.
There are quite a lot of birds in this recording. I’ve identified when they’re heard in the soundcloud version of this recording, but here’s a list of everything you can hear:
● Pied Triller
● Philippine Bulbul
● Yellow-vented Bulbul
● Black-naped Monarch
● Coppersmith Barbet
● Garden Sunbird
● Philippine Pied Fantail
● Black-naped Oriole
● Rufous-capped Bee-eaters
● Tawny Grassbird
● Zebra Dove
● Spotted Dove
● Lowland White-eye
● Grey-backed Tailorbird?
● Golden-bellied Gerygone
● Arctic Warbler
● Kamchatka Leaf Warbler
● Philippine Hawk Eagle
